  • Scarleteen : A resource created to center young people and provide inclusive and affirming education and information about sex and relationships! You can ask questions, provide feedback and answers, or read up on topics that you are interested in!
  • Sex, etc. : This website, blog, and communication website is run by teens for teens! Learn about many topics in sex ed, answer polls, take action for a sexual health cause you care about, read the blog, or apply to write for sex, etc.
  • GO ASK ALICE! : This website answers many types of questions about bodies and health. You can see what questions people have that might be like ones you have and find many researched responses. And if you have a question you can’t find the answer to, you can submit it!
  • Love is respect. : A resource for learning about and navigating relationships and dating. In addition to a website full of information, love is respect. has a call line (1•866•331•9474) and a chat line that provides free and confidential support, education and advocacy 24/7, whenever someone might need it.
  • Relationships grow and change over time and as we move through life, and it is normal that as people change, their relationships shift too. There are aspects of relationships, things like respect, consent, and trust, that help us recognize relationships that work for us and feel good. Sometimes it is helpful to think about these qualities with a tool and evaluate how they do or do not show up in our relationships.
  • Consent is so important and happens all the time in everyday life! Often, we define it as “giving or getting permission” or as an enthusiastic yes. Though this is true, communication is often more complicated than a “yes” or “no” binary. This video, by sex educator Nadine Thornhill, talks about the nuances of consent!
  • SPAN (Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence) provides support and resources for people in and around Boulder and Longmont to learn about and navigate relationships. They have a 24-hour crisis hotline, as well as a safehouse where people can access support. PBJ (Peers Building Justice) is their youth advocacy coalition!
  • GENERATIONS : This program supports Latine youth and communities in sex education and advocacy, centering the Latine, immigrant and first-generation experience in Boulder County and connecting with resources and programs across backgrounds. GLO (GENERATIONS Leaders Organizing) is their youth group which builds leadership through peer-to-peer education.
  • Every person makes mistakes – it is part of being human. When someone makes a mistake, there is a mix of empathy and accountability that can help repair or move through the impacts it has had. Holding one another accountable with honesty and justice is crucial to practicing community, consent, and care. Read this article by Bianca Laureano about how we can practice accountability to heal and help our communities.
  • CDC : The Center for Disease Control is a national health organization that provides accurate and accessible information about many topics related to health. We love their information about STIs because of their resources for testing and the ways they work to reduce stigma with accurate information.
  • Be You Colorado : There are many tools that people can use to prevent STIs, including vaccines, contraceptives, and barrier methods that work in different ways to reduce infections before, during, and after sex! One contraceptive method someone can take to prevent HIV is PrEP! Learn more about this really awesome tool at Be You Colorado, including possibilities to access virtual appointments!
  • BCAP (Boulder County AIDS Project) : BCAP provides testing, treatment and education around HIV in Boulder County. They connect people living with HIV to care and resources, and work to reduce stigma of all STIs through education programming.
  • Having conversations with partners about STIs can be intimidating and awkward! It’s not very often people are given models for how to have these conversations and we can also be worried about how partners might respond! This video with Dr. Evalene Dacker offers some cool tools for how people can talk about STIs!
  • Language and myths about STIs have a long and harmful history of telling people not to have sex and of marginalizing and stigmatizing queer and trans communities, and Black and brown folks. Talking about this history is super important to understanding the world and to changing how we and our communities think about and treat STIs and people in general. This article talks about some of the history of HIV and AIDS in the United States, including the medical history, discrimination and disparities, and how activists pushed and continue to push for change in medicine and society – and here is a SUPER detailed timeline! This resource delves into the history of the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment and its impact on Black communities long after doctors found treatment, which they did not offer the people in the study. These histories can be hard to read, but they’re still important to know!
  • BEDSIDER.org : This website offers comprehensive information about types of contraceptive and birth control methods, their use, and where to access them. It also shares information about sex and bodies through blogs and articles!
  • Reproductive health access project : A website and resource page that offers information and printable sheets about many topics, including contraception, in many languages. Here are direct pdfs to the English, Spanish and Chinese versions.
  • CU Educational Patient Handouts : Provides a wide range of handouts about contraceptive methods, including details of each method, answers to common questions and concerns, and ways to access contraceptive care.
  • Even though contraception can be really helpful and important to a lot of people, many don’t realize some of their painful and harmful histories, or how some of those histories carry into our current moment. It is important background to know so we can think about why people might think about contraception the way they do and to make informed decisions for our own bodies. This article talks about the history of the implant method. Read this article for history about the birth control pill. We recommend searching for even more resources!
  • The Trevor Project : A national organization that provides information, support and community for LGBTQIA+ people; including a 24/7 counseling and crisis support program, research and advocacy projects, education programs, and online peer support communities.
  • Build a Gender and Sexuality Galaxy : How do you understand your own gender? Your own sexuality? Your own way of knowing yourself in this world and connecting with other people? Like Alok Vaid Menon says, gender and sexuality are as expansive as a
    galaxy, each person their own gorgeous planet, star, moon with their own ways of being. You deserve to explore your gender and sexuality in the ways that work best for you. Your gender and identity only have to make sense to you!
  • FOLX : A health and wellness program for LGBTQIA+ people that provides resources for gender affirming care, mental health and primary care providers, queer community, and free and accessible information about queer and trans experiences.
  • Q Chat Space : This organization brings young queer people together in chat platforms where they can ask questions, learn from one another, and build community. They also hold conversation sessions most days about all sorts of amazing topics from queer and trans history, community, and culture!
  • TransLash : Journalist and activist Imara Jones centers trans people and trans joy as she reports on the many events and systems that shape our world. The TransLash podcast highlights news as well as personal stories.
  • OASIS : If you’re looking for an affirming and exciting community of queer and trans youth, OASIS may have the youth advisory council for you! Young people work together to support the diverse LGBTQIA+ communities of Boulder County and gather to celebrate and learn about one another and themselves!
  • Rocky Mountain Equality : This local organization works to build affirming and inclusive spaces for queer and trans people through activities, support groups, events, gender-affirming clothing, QTPOC spaces, and more. They offer support navigating and accessing resources for community, healthcare, and mental health.

  • Trans Lifeline : Peer support service run by trans people, for trans and questioning callers. Call 877•565•8860. Available 8am-2am MT.
  • Mental Health Partners / Clinica Family Health and Wellness : Offers counseling and support services for young people and adults regardless of insurance, income, or documentation status.
  • queer asterisk : Queer-informed and affirming virtual counseling for individuals and groups. Provides appointments to receive letters for gender affirming care. Works on a sliding scale starting at $75 per session, as well as with insurance providers, Medicaid and Medicare.
  • I Matter. : Confidential counseling services connect youth with 6 sessions of free therapy, either virtually or in-person.
  • Centro Amistad : Creates programs and opportunities for the Latine community in the Boulder and Longmont area to promote health, education, quality of life, and equity. Raíces Vivas supports young people in advocacy and leadership.
  • One Colorado : Works with state policy, advocacy, health care and education to fight for equity and freedom for LGBTQ+ communities in Colorado.
  • Guttmacher Institute : A leading research and policy organization committed to advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights through news, policy analysis, and resources.
  • Advocates for Youth : Youth activists and adult allies advocate for sexual and reproductive health and rights, understanding that these things are tied to social justice and the fight for liberation.
  • ICAH (Illinois Caucus for Adolescent Health) : Located in Chicago, this youth-led education, advocacy and research organization centers youth voices to promote reproductive justice policy for marginalized communities. Their resource list brings together movements for reproductive justice through interconnected perspectives.
  • Sex Positive Families : Provides education and resources that help families raise children with the knowledge and body autonomy they deserve. They offer virtual and interactive workshops and have built a vast library of resources on sex, bodies, puberty, gender, sexuality, and more!
  • Cory Silverberg and Fiona Smyth are educators, authors and artists creating incredible resources for young people of all ages and their caregivers. We love You Know, Sex for people about to or currently going through puberty, and Sex is a Funny Word for people not yet going through puberty but deserve knowledge on their bodies and curiosities.
  • Be Real, Be Ready : A sexual and reproductive health toolkit for parents, providers and health centers. It includes sections for providers, youth, and parents on key topics with unique handouts. Free to download.
  • The Porn Conversation : TCP sex education curriculum is offered for people ages 8 years old and up, and it’s available in English, Spanish, French, and German. TCP curriculum focuses on many topics from ranging from consent and body autonomy to anatomy and STIs to free online pornography.
  • ECHO : Offers credited courses about sexual health for teachers and providers working with youth. Topics include gender and sexuality, reproductive anatomy and physiology, pregnancy and contraception, STIs, and more.
  • GET (Gender Equity Training) : A free facilitation guide and curriculum for educators through the lens of media literacy, gender equity, leadership development, and mental health resourcing.
  • ANTE UP! : If you’re looking to build certifications and learn about justice-rooted sex education practices, this certification is for you! The incredible Dr. Bianca Laureano offers virtual learning classes and SARs (also offered as individual options without certification).
