Abortion Travel Guide: Lincoln to Boulder, CO

If you are traveling from Lincoln or surrounding communities for abortion care, Boulder Valley Health Center (BVHC) is here to support you every step of the way.

Seeking abortion care in Nebraska has become increasingly restrictive following the enshrinement of a 12-week ban in the state constitution. BVHC serves as a vital legal and medical refuge for patients across the Great Plains.

As an accredited non-profit facility with over 50 years of experience, we specialize in supporting Nebraska patients who must travel to receive timely and comprehensive care.

Why Choose Boulder Valley Health Center?

For many Lincoln patients, traveling to Colorado is not just about legality – it’s about speed, simplicity, and access beyond restrictive timelines.

  • Beyond the 12-Week Limit: Nebraska enforces a 12-week gestational limit. Colorado has no gestational limits, ensuring you can receive care regardless of how far along you are.
  • No Mandatory Waiting Period: Nebraska requires a 24-hour waiting period and state-directed counseling, often necessitating two trips or an overnight stay. In Boulder, consultation and procedure can be completed in a single visit.
  • Rapid Scheduling: While Nebraska’s limited in-state options may experience backlogs, we typically offer appointments within 7 days.
  • Single-Visit Care: Our care model is specifically structured for long-distance travelers, minimizing repeat trips and time away from home.
  • Legal Protection: Colorado’s constitutional right to abortion is fully in effect, ensuring that patients traveling from Nebraska are protected and that care can be covered by insurance or financial assistance programs without legal interference.
  • Trusted Experience: Founded in 1973, BVHC is Colorado’s first abortion clinic, with more than 50 years of experience serving patients from across the Southeast.
  • Privacy & Confidentiality: Your medical information is kept strictly confidential and never shared without your consent.
