Founded in 1973, Boulder Valley Health Center (BVHC) is a leader in reproductive and sexual health care in our community. Our mission is to offer accessible, confidential, evidence-based, and compassionate health care, including abortion, family planning, gynecology, gender-affirming care, community education, and sexual health support. The Community Educator will facilitate BVHC’s sexual health programming by providing educational sessions in schools, supporting the work of our Youth Advisory Council, and through various community partnerships and events. This will be done in close collaboration with the Teen and Community Program Coordinator. Educational programming is primarily delivered in school classrooms on Monday – Friday. Peak months for sessions are October-December and April-May. There may be occasional community partner events during evenings or weekends requiring attendance.

This full-time, hybrid, exempt position works approximately 32 hours per week (.80 FTE). The salary range is $40,000-$44,000 (24.00/hr – $26.44/hr), and will report to the Teen and Community Program Coordinator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schedule, provide, and facilitate developmentally appropriate, comprehensive sexual health education sessions for middle and high school-aged youth, college students, and community groups that are grounded in a positive approach to sexuality and youth development.
  • Collaborate with the Coordinator and Director of Teen and Community Programs to update and improve scheduling practices, curricula, program development, and evaluation.
  • Support the development of materials for our educational programming and community outreach in Spanish.
  • Maintain, establish, and foster strong relationships with community partners and stakeholders. • Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring goals, objectives, and evaluation methods for all teen and young adult educational programs. This includes an evaluation summary for each session with specific quantitative and qualitative metrics. This data must also track back to relevant grant deliverables.
  • Collaborate with other members of the BVHC team to highlight the impact of BVWHC’s teen and community programs.
  • Participate in select local, regional, and national events, such as training and advocacy work, to improve access to comprehensive, medically accurate sexual education and share the expertise of BVHC’s community education and teen programs.


Job Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
  • Knowledge of youth development and sexual health programming.
  • Ability to work independently to deliver training in multiple locations and be extremely reliable with scheduled commitments.
  • Access to a personal vehicle for travel to outreach programs throughout the Boulder metro area (mileage reimbursement provided).
  • Highly organized with strong oral and written communication skills. • Travel will be required as a part of this position.


Experience

  • B.A. or B.S. in a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience working with teens in youth development and/or sexual health education context.
  • Experience facilitating, implementing, and evaluating educational programs for teens.
  • Experience working with, and appreciation and respect for, urban and rural communities, diverse populations, cultures, and economic experiences.
