What to Expect at Your Appointment

We know every patient’s experience is different. The information below will help you know what to expect and how to prepare for your visit.

  • Before your appointment:
    • Please avoid alcohol and recreational drug use 24 hours before & 24 hours after your appointment.
    • Eat breakfast and stay hydrated before arriving. (No fasting required)
    • We provide light snacks and drinks, but we do not provide a full meal. You are welcome to bring your own food or snacks.
  • Payment information:
    • Full payment is due at your appointment. We accept cash, debit and credit cards.
    • If cost is a concern, please contact us before your appointment. We will do our best to discuss available options and support you.
  • Please bring the following with you:
    • A photo ID for yourself and your support person (if bringing someone with you).
    • A copy of your insurance card, if you have insurance. (You can use for additional services, even if you don’t bill your abortion to insurance)
  • Optional items to bring for while you wait between appointment steps:
    • Phone and phone charger, headphones, a book, tablet, or other quiet activities
  • Support person information:
    • You may bring one (1) support person with you.
    • Your support person will remain in the lobby during your visit but may leave and return as needed while you are receiving care.
    • Please do not bring children to your appointment.
  • How long will I be in the clinic?
    • Medication abortion: Plan to spend approximately 3-4 hours at the clinic.
    • Procedural abortion: Plan to spend 5-6 hours at the clinic. If you are more than 14 weeks pregnant, plan for approximately 6-7 hours at the clinic.
  • What to wear (procedural abortion):
    • Comfortable clothing and underwear that can support a maxi pad.
    • Please do not wear dark nail polish or acrylic nails on your index or middle fingers on either hand. (To monitor your vital signs during your procedure).
  • If you decide not to proceed with an abortion after your ultrasound:
    • If you choose not to continue with your abortion appointment after completing the ultrasound, you will be responsible for the ultrasound fee ($175).
    • This service is not eligible for abortion funding assistance, but your insurance may cover the cost.
