Auburn-Opelika Robert G Pitts Airport (AUO) offers limited commercial service, so many patients choose larger nearby airports for more flexible scheduling and lower travel costs to Denver International Airport (DEN).

Alternative Airports:

  • Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM): Approximately 1.5 hours northwest; offers direct flights to Denver.
  • Airlines: Delta, United, and American Airlines operate direct and one-stop flights from both ATL and BHM to DEN.
  • Flight Time: One-stop flights typically range from 4–6 hours depending on connections.

Ground Transit from DEN to Boulder (45 minutes):

  • RTD SkyRide Bus (AB Route): Direct, affordable transportation between DEN and Boulder.
  • Ride-sharing Services/Taxis: Uber and Lyft operate regularly from the airport.
  • Rental Car: Multiple agencies are available onsite at DEN if you prefer private transportation.

Some patients prefer to drive, especially when traveling with a trusted support person or when needing flexible travel timing.

  • Distance: Approx. 1,400 miles
  • Driving Time: Roughly 20-22 hours of active driving
  • Common Route: I-85/I-20 toward Birmingham. Connecting to I-70 W and I-25 N into Colorado toward Boulder.
